Just got the new roof on the rally car this weekend. Welding old sheet metal can be really tricky, luckily I didn't have too much trouble with the structural members. I'm using 1/16" dia 6013 electrode for the thin stuff using about 30-35 amps. I have to finish getting the welding done, finish putting the windshield back in (finished this on 2/23), put the rest of the glass back in and install the new doors. I plan to do all of this during this week, but it's really tough to find time with school and homework.
Next weekend I am replacing the engine, reinstalling the rear bumper, installing whatever exhaust pieces are missing, and finishing up whatever last minute things come up. Right now, everything is behind schedule with Doo Wop Rally scheduled for the 6th and 7th of March, but not nearly as far behind schedule as last year.
Thanks for Jens for the help on Saturday. Most of the work I end up doing myself and it's always nice to have help sometimes.
As always, money is a huge problem for our team. I had to scratch plans for a built engine this season and have another used 8 valve B-engine to put in. We can barely afford entry fees and gas for events, but we press on regardless. We're always looking for more sponsors, and donations would be genuinely appreciated! If you believe in small rally teams like ours and have something to contribute please let me know.
