We finished the Nameless Performance Rally in one piece but we beat the car up quite a bit. We took 6th in class and 18th overall. I'll post a full update as soon as I can, in the mean time you can keep an eye on twitter and facebook to see all the pictures that show up. A link to our photo gallery is here also: Picasa gallery

Quinn Morley and Kaylan O'Connor will be racing the Saab in the Nameless Performance Rally. We are super excited to rally in Shelton, Washington again this year! We have been going to rallies in Shelton watching Saabs and Volvos smash around corners our whole lives. It's very exciting to finally be able to race there, especially for a second time.
UPDATE 6/20/13: Resolved the car 'feeling' rich and missing/backfiring: replaced the points in the distributor and set dwell to 48.5 deg (within tolerance). The car runs great now I just need to get the mixture back where it's supposed to be after I was tinkering with it during troubleshooting. This thing is LOUD! Look for us at registration / scrutineering early tomorrow at Little Creek Casino.
UPDATE 6/16/13 It's the weekend before the race and the car is all put together. It's running a little rich and missing now and then, but it seems to even out in the high revs. I had some "real" gasoline in it which is a mistake because it was tuned for pump (E10) pump gas.
Gene at Magic Auto Repair helped me out with the exhaust project, so now the car has a 2 1/4" straight pipe exhaust with a wee 6 inch long glass pack right on the end of the tailpipe. It sounds pretty mean! Today I got to work on a beefy-ass (technical term) skidplate mount to put the piece of 1/4" Aluminum on with (formerly a skidplate of Malcom's on his 4wd Eagle Talon).
The rally will be headquartered out of the Little Creek Casino right off the exit for McCleary (Hwy 107) from US 101. This is a very good location for RHQ and should make everything pretty easy for us competitors.
The schedule looks FANTASTIC, like a rally should be run. Saturday will be tough though, surviving Nahwatzel. The Simpson Company sure has some great roads for that stage, but they can be tough on the cars.

wish I could find such informative sites more often. I regularly spend much time on just looking for some worthy sites when I can find something to think about.
What a vintage and unique carw
Hi my name is Erik and I'm located in Washington can you help me learn more information on how to get involved with rally racing?
Erik,
All you need to do is 1. buy a used rally car, 2. buy a fire suit 3. buy a helmet and hans device and 4. enter a race and buy the licenses at registration.
Check out specialstage.com classifieds for used rally cars.
Sunday at 9 AM at Evergreen speedway in monroe there is a rallycross
Olympus rally is May 30th to June 1st, you should sign up as a volunteer and start to meet people and learn how a race is run. Volunteering is the single most important way to get involved in rally. Also oregon trail rally is may 2-4th you should volunteer at that too. After you do those 3 events you'll have enough facebook friends in the community that it should be easy to go from there. Good luck.
If you build a car keep it as stock as possible.
Quinn
